It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype of latest trends whether it be appearance, personality, or talent. I’ve found that by staying true to who I am, focusing on what makes me happy, and where I want my writing to ultimately go I stay grounded. It’s nice to give into the guilty pleasures of the latest celebrity gossip, what the hottest trends are in fashion and style, and what is currently selling and of interest to the public. But at the end of the day, if you are just doing what you think will be liked by others, and not what you love and know to be your true self, you will look back one day and wonder what happened to the true you. Nevermind the trends. Nevermind what’s hot. Be yourself!!

I’ve received yet another request for a partial of IVY LEAGUE MADAME. To say I am thrilled would be an understatement. I know I’ve said this too many times, but it feels heavenly to be getting such positive interest for my novels and creative writing ideas. Now if I could just get an offer of representation!!!!! I was able to get my chapters for this novel revised and sent off to another agent, who also expressed interest in the project. Both individuals are highly reputable and I’d be honored to work with either. But worst case scenario, even if they ultimately pass on representation at least I know I’m on the right track with my plot and story line.

Query News….Again!!!!!

I’m on a roll here!!! It feels really good to finally be getting positive response to my work. I have to admit that I feel more strongly about the quality of my Marriage Goddess and Ivy League Madame novels than Savannah. I did get a few responses from queries for Savannah, but nothing concrete. So, if nothing else, that novel was my first, my baby. And it was great practice on writing dialogue, pacing, and character development.

More Query News!!!

I just got a request for the full manuscript of The Marriage Goddess. Super exciting. I still have to get the first three chapters of Ivy League Madame into another agent as well. Bad migraines last week got in the way of my editing and revising before sending off. So, now I’ve got to get on my grind and get both books finished and sent off by the end of next week!!!!! Challenging but you won’t hear any complaints from my way 🙂

Writers, New People, Meetups….Oh My!!!

So, I’ve taken the big leap and joined several local writers meetup groups! Slowly coming out of my shell and graduating from hobby writer to known author (locally speaking). First meeting is next week. I’m pretty excited, but oddly feeling a little introverted (anyone who’s known me for longer than a minute knows the word introvert least describes me). So, I’m taking along my partner in crime KMW 🙂 Hoping to meet fellow writers, get a little honest critiquing, and hopefully network my way into writing stardom!!! Stay tuned….

I’ve learned that true friends are few and far between. My grandmother always tells me that life is full of “fair weather people”, those that are by your side when the sun is shining, but run for cover when it rains.

I remember when I got pregnant with my daughter, I had too many friends to count. I was pretty spoiled- nice car, nice clothes, partying all the time. I had money to blow and people around me ready to spend it. When I found out I was pregnant I knew if I chose to keep my daughter, I would be raising her alone- which meant I’d have to sacrifice a lot. And I did. I lost my job because I got really sick and couldn’t work, which was followed by losing my car and having to move back in with my mother. My daughter was worth it- and the experience taught me to be more appreciative. But more importantly, I learned that out of all of the people I had surrounding me who I thought were friends (at least 10), I only had about 2 who were there for me. It was a rough learning time and I can’t say it didn’t sting, but I’ve bounced back, gotten closer to God, and pretty much returned to where I once was before those hard times, but with a wiser mind 🙂 Anyone who can’t stick it out with you at your worst doesn’t deserve to celebrate with you at your best!

I got a request today for the first 30 pages of my new novel “Ivy League Madame”. Fingers crossed!!

Ivy League Madame follows the story of Casey Whitehall, a flourishing Yale senior.
